You can offload your used equipment and instruments by selling, trading in or consigning them to us. As a first step, please phone (02 9550 1177) or email us to see if we are interested in the item you wish to sell before coming into the store. We will tell you if it is worth your time to bring the item to us. If we are interested in your offer we will ask you to bring the item to the store for evaluation. Please understand that we do not buy every item brought to us. If the goods you are selling are clean, desirable, useful and in good working order, you have a good chance. You will need to show us proof of ID before we can purchase anything from you, see below.

important ID requirements
Smithys is a licensed second hand dealer. All second hand dealers in NSW are required by law to sight and take details of your ID before any transaction can take place. Much the same as the requirements for banks, you need to supply ID which satisfies five requirements.

You will need...
• A current Australian drivers license. This is perfect as it shows your NAME, PHOTO, SIGNATURE, DATE OF BIRTH and ADDRESS which are the FIVE legal requirements. If you have a current Australian drivers licence you need not read further. If you don't you will need to show several documents which, together, satisfy all five requirements. See below.
• You may use alternate forms of ID provided they; are in the list below, are current and, together they satisfy all five requirements.
